Strong foundation in student-centered pedagogy
Knowledge of the developmental needs of children
Strong content-area knowledge and expertise
Knowledge of elementary school philosophy
Thorough understanding of theories and teaching methodologies along with a sophisticated understanding of the academic, social, and emotional needs of high school students learning English as a second language
Working knowledge of the WIDA standards and the Massachusetts Standards-Based curriculum
Knowledge of best practices in teaching to individuals and small groups with a highly systematic approach
Working knowledge of the principles of UDL
Working knowledge of SEL instruction and supports
Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student, staff, and community engagement and cultivation
Preferred Experience
Experience teaching in a diverse public elementary school preferred
Experience working with students with disabilities/special abilities preferred
Experience working with students who are English language learners preferred
Experience working with Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) and English learner students with disabilities (ELSWD) is preferred.
Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidate
Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
Ability to develop, implement, and consistently monitor language proficiency goals and objectives for EL students and keep parents informed about student progress in their requested language.
Ability to assess student progress using a variety of WIDA-aligned assessments, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to adjust instruction as needed.
Ability to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods
Must have well-established verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to share information and resources as appropriate, including strong written communication skills.
Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
Thoughtfully planning for and delivering dynamic and creative English instruction that is high quality, engaging, and aligned to Natick curricular guidance, WIDA State Standards, Common Core State Standards, and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Practice culturally responsive communication with students, families, and colleagues.
Maintain high expectations for all students and serving as a facilitator of student learning.
Organize and apply a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings.
Develop, implement, and consistently monitor language proficiency goals and objectives for EL students and keep parents informed about student progress in their requested language.
Assess student progress using a variety of WIDA-aligned assessments, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to adjust instruction as needed
Collaborate with Special Educators, ELE Educators, Literacy and Math Specialists, and Instructional Leaders to ensure students needs are being met.
Consult with and assist SEI teachers of EL students to scaffold lessons, assignments, and assessments as appropriate for individual students. Or Co-plan and co-teach with SEI classroom teacher(s).
Keep abreast of current developments in the field and continue to deepen understanding of the discipline(s).
Administer the annual ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Online test for ELL students.
Must be committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic and linguistic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap.
Provides learning experiences in language arts, social studies, reading, mathematics science, art, physical education, and music to students, guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements, while creating an environment that is conducive to student learning and involvement;
Monitors students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusts instruction, materials, and assessments when appropriate;
Evaluates, tries innovative approaches, and refines instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies available to teachers, to increase student learning, involvement, and confidence to learn;
Demonstrates appreciation for and sensitivity to, the diversity among individuals and strives to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning;
Maintains and improves professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for recertification;
Shares responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of his/her grade/team/PLC/department, building and school district, attending all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed.
