In July of 2018, Jordan Anderson embarked on an entrepreneurial journey at the ECU Miller School of Entrepreneurship's Summer Innovation Academy hosted by East Carolina University. This weeklong camp for high school students not only fosters innovation but also provides a glimpse into the world of entrepreneurship and life as a Pirate at ECU. After participating in the East Carolina University active moms studies, Molly Tripp, an ECU College of Health and Human Performance faculty member, experienced firsthand the benefits of exercise during pregnancy for both mothers and babies. It was a memorable experience for Angel Castañeda Vargas from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, as he visited East Carolina University's campus last month. Standing amid the vibrant atmosphere of ECU's sports venues, Vargas expressed his excitement about the sold-out NCAA regional game and the welcoming Pirate tailgaters. As a human resources student, Vargas participated in the 2024 ECU and Special Olympics Unified Youth Exchange project, where he was paired with a Special Olympics athlete. At East Carolina University, Jordan Elliott and 61 other high school students showcased their prowess in robotics at the STEM Mavericks youth camp. The final week hosted military dependents from North Carolina, following earlier sessions with students from economically stressed Tier 1 counties in eastern North Carolina. East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine's Preparing Tomorrow’s Dentists (PTD) summer pathway program is underway!The program offers a firsthand experience of the application process, hands-on exercises, and insights into the life of a dental school student. With 49 participants this year, it serves high school, college, and postgraduate students and provides a comprehensive understanding of dental school.
