📣 Exciting news for students in Duplin County and ECU! 📣 A recent bilateral agreement between East Carolina University and James Sprunt Community College is paving the way for a smoother transition to higher education. The agreement guarantees admission into ECU’s Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology program for JSCC students who graduate with at least a 2.0 GPA and an Associate in Applied Science degree in industrial systems technology. Graduates from JSCC will also receive 53 credit hours toward their BSIT degrees at ECU. Dr. Jay Carraway, president of JSCC, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, “It provides an opportunity for our students to seamlessly transition to ECU.     It was a memorable experience for Angel Castañeda Vargas from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, as he visited East Carolina University's campus last month. Standing amid the vibrant atmosphere of ECU's sports venues, Vargas expressed his excitement about the sold-out NCAA regional game and the welcoming Pirate tailgaters. As a human resources student, Vargas participated in the 2024 ECU and Special Olympics Unified Youth Exchange project, where he was paired with a Special Olympics athlete. The final week hosted military dependents from North Carolina, following earlier sessions with students from economically stressed Tier 1 counties in eastern North Carolina.
