  • Highs Roomy cabin, modern appearance, decent standard tech.
  • Lows Mediocre fuel economy, disappointing interior materials, acceleration that leaves you wanting.
  • Verdict Despite its pretty face, the Terrain's middling build quality and subpar materials hold it back from competitiveness.

Overview

The latest GMC SUV to receive a ruggedness makeover is the 2025 Terrain, which holds up the compact end of the truck maker's lineup. We've only seen a glimpse of the redesigned SUV's front end, but it shows a new headlamp design that mimics the larger Yukon SUV's and an AT4 badge in the grille, indicating that an off-road capable trim will continue to be offered. Like the previous generation model, we expect the new Terrain to share a platform with the also-new Chevrolet Equinox, so we're expecting a similar powertrain here: A 175-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with front- or all-wheel drive. The only other detail we've seen so far is a partially obscured view of the Terrain's dashboard, which featured a large infotainment display and a digital gauge cluster. We expect to see the full reveal of the 2025 Terrain sometime in spring 2024.

What's New for 2025?

The Terrain will begin a new generation for the 2025 model year, complete with a bolder look and modern features.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2025 GMC Terrain is expected to start around $31,000 and go up to $41,000 depending on the trim and options.

GMC has not released information about the 2025 Terrain's pricing yet, but we don't expect it will climb much from the current model's MSRP. Expect the SLE trim to return as the entry-level model, and there will no doubt be a range-topping Denali variant. We know from a teaser image released by GMC that a rugged AT4 off-road-capable trim will also be offered. When we find out more information about the 2025 Terrain's price and options, we will update this story with details.
